Plans for a gas power station at Beach have been withdrawn after strong local opposition.

The plans submitted to South Glos council requested permission for the land off Beach Lane for 25 years, and would have seen construction of a Peaking Gas Generation Plant. Greens echoed local concerns around the industrialisation of a Green Belt conservation area, with an expected requirement of 3 or 4 deliveries of LNG per week, as well as committing our energy network to further dependency on fossil fuels. The planning application has since been withdrawn but can be viewed on the Council’s website at: http://developments.southglos.gov.uk/online-applications/ under the Reference: PK17/5762/F
