Councillor, Westerleigh and Coalpit Heath Parish Council

Carolina Echegaray

I was born in Lima, Peru and came to the UK as a child refugee in the 1990s, England has been my home now for 30 years. Due to my international circumstances, I have had the privilege to live in many parts of the UK but finally settled in Frampton Cotterall 16 months ago where my partner and I live and work. We run a family business from home where we make metal frames for bicycles and I am about to start a PhD.

Having a Green representative ensures the views, needs and wants of our community are heard and acted on. Many of the things that need to be done can be done at a local level – whether it’s improving transport infrastructure, decisions around housing and development, and the protection and enhancement of our green spaces. These issues are at the heart of Green Party politics, not only because they are crucial in how we address the climate crisis, but also because they impact our communities and the quality of our day-to-day lives.
